What You Will Do

Join the Department of Inflammation Research as a Senior Scientist in our In Vivo Pharmacology (IVP) group. In this dynamic role, you will design and execute experiments to explore the pharmacology of drug targets, generate and communicate preclinical data, and provide technical expertise to therapeutic area scientists. You may also manage one direct report and collaborate with teams across multiple Amgen sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the design, execution, and data analysis of innovative in vivo pharmacology experiments to support Amgen’s Inflammation therapeutic area research pipeline.
  • Utilize animal models to validate and accelerate drug candidates through the research pipeline.
  • Collaborate with therapeutic area scientists to align in vivo strategies with project objectives.
  • Ensure high-quality study data and analysis from the team.
  • Present findings at internal meetings and external conferences.

What We Expect of You

We seek a driven, proactive, and enthusiastic scientist eager to contribute to groundbreaking research in a collaborative environment. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Doctorate (PhD, PharmD, or MD) in Immunology, inflammation, autoimmune disease, or related fields, with relevant postdoctoral experience.
  • Or a Master’s degree with 3 years of related experience.
  • Or a Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD with post-doctoral training or drug discovery experience in Immunology or related fields.
  • Strong hands-on expertise in handling animals (mouse and rat) and in vivo techniques (e.g., i.v., i.p., p.o., s.c., etc.).
  • Experience designing and executing preclinical models for inflammation and autoimmune diseases (e.g., colitis, lupus, arthritis).
  • Proficiency in cellular, biochemical, histological, and molecular biology assays (e.g., ELISA, flow cytometry, quantitative RT-PCR).
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in GraphPad Prism, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational and communication skills, and timely data analysis.
  • A demonstrated record of independent critical thinking and scientific achievement.
  • Ability to thrive in a flexible, team-oriented environment.
