Purpose
The primary role of the Sr. Medical Affairs Scientist (MAS) is to create and implement strategic initiatives aimed at building long-term peer-to-peer relationships with healthcare professionals (HCPs) and institutions. The role fosters cross-functional partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders to generate customer insights and leverage business opportunities. The Sr. MAS provides aligned medical support integrated into the overall strategy for the MSA within the Therapeutic Area (TA) brand's operating and clinical plans.

Scope
The Sr. MAS is responsible for:

  • Planning and implementing customer-facing medical initiatives
  • Establishing Key Opinion Leader (KOL) and medical society relationships
  • Facilitating Medical-to-Medical communications
  • Organizing and leading medical meetings such as advisory boards and scientific exchange meetings
  • Acting as the medical expert for the assigned TA/brand
  • Overseeing data generation initiatives (e.g., non-interventional studies, Investigator-Sponsored Research, research collaborations)
  • Providing internal training on relevant therapeutic areas and products
  • Contributing medical insights for product life-cycle management
  • Representing the country in TA/brand global initiatives
  • Managing medical activities in the assigned geographical area (Korea)

Reporting Line
The Sr. Medical Affairs Scientist reports to the TA Medical Lead.

Resources Managed
The Sr. MAS may manage resources related to medical activities.

Main Responsibilities/Duties
As a customer-facing medical role, the Sr. MAS will:

  • Create and execute strategies to develop enduring peer-to-peer relationships with HCPs and institutions.
  • Establish cross-functional partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to collect customer intelligence and insights, leveraging business opportunities.
  • Develop and implement Medical-to-Medical Interaction Plans, actively engaging with scientific leaders in the field.
  • Collaborate with medical societies, government agencies, and industry groups to foster partnerships.
  • Respond to unsolicited medical inquiries with accurate, well-balanced scientific data, including information on off-label indications and compounds in development.
  • Feed customer intelligence and insights into the organization to inform internal strategies and business opportunities.
  • Act as a liaison between Pfizer scientists, internal resources, and external HCPs and researchers to facilitate scientific collaborations.
  • Support the development and implementation of medical and brand strategies to ensure the achievement of both short- and long-term objectives, in alignment with global, regional, and local goals.
  • Collaborate with the team (Sr. Medical Manager, Medical Lead) to manage medical initiatives such as advisory boards, scientific exchange meetings, and symposia.
  • Provide medical leadership for local non-interventional studies (NIS), post-marketing surveillance (PMS), risk management plans (RMP), and investigator-sponsored research (ISR) opportunities.
  • Offer medical input for cross-functional initiatives including regulatory, commercial, and access-related projects.
  • Support the internal review process, providing medical input on material creation.
  • Oversee data generation efforts in collaboration with local study operations and RWE/NIS teams for successful execution of non-interventional studies.
  • Support coordination and communication with investigators for Investigator-Sponsored Research (ISR) and research collaborations (CRC).
  • Develop and maintain expertise in the assigned therapeutic area.
  • Support the onboarding, training, and development of junior medical colleagues.
  • Assist with compassionate use/early access programs.

Required Skills

  • Medical, pharmacy, veterinary medicine, nursing, life sciences, or other relevant advanced degrees.
  • At least 3 years of experience in Medical Affairs or a customer-facing medical role.
  • Deep knowledge of the responsible therapeutic areas and related medications.
  • Understanding of the drug development process, including clinical research, regulatory approval, pricing and reimbursement, and pharmacovigilance.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks for medical activities in line with local regulations and internal policies, such as the Pharmaceutical Affairs Law, KRPIA Code of Conduct, and Pfizer Green Guide.
  • Understanding of local healthcare policy and environment.
  • Ability to critically assess clinical study protocols, reports, and scientific/medical publications.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Fluency in Korean is required; fluency in business English is preferred.
