Role Overview

The Senior Employee Relations Specialist will provide expert support to managers and team members, addressing workplace issues and promoting a positive employee experience. This role will focus on advising, investigating, and resolving employee relations concerns, while ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable laws.


Key Responsibilities

  • Employee Relations Case Management:

    • Handle inquiries and cases, conduct investigations, and resolve issues in a timely and effective manner.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders, including legal teams, to manage complex cases and escalate when necessary.
    • Advise managers on appropriate personnel actions based on company policies, labor laws, and investigation findings.
  • Corrective Actions & Performance Improvement Plans:

    • Assist in preparing corrective action documents and performance improvement plans.
    • Guide managers through the process, ensuring clear communication with employees.
  • Compliance & Policy Adherence:

    • Stay updated on local labor laws and maintain knowledge of compliance requirements.
    • Ensure workplace is free from discrimination and harassment.
    • Promote adherence to company policies and procedures and provide guidance on legal implications.
  • Training & Knowledge Sharing:

    • Share insights on employee relations with managers and team members.
    • Contribute to the development of training programs that enhance employee relations processes.
  • Communication & Reporting:

    • Communicate effectively with various stakeholders, providing clear, empathetic responses to concerns.
    • Prepare reports, presentations, and written communication on employee relations cases and trends.
  • Data Analysis & Improvement Initiatives:

    • Analyze data to identify trends, issues, and areas for improvement in employee relations practices.
    • Proactively recommend solutions to enhance the overall employee experience.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or a related field.
  • 7 to 9 years of experience in HR, with 2-3 years focused on Employee Relations.
  • PHR or SPHR certification preferred; Master’s Degree in HR a plus.
  • Experience in virtual employee relations support across multiple locations is a plus.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of labor laws and compliance regulations.
  • Experience in investigating and resolving employee relations issues, including advising management and providing actionable recommendations.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems (Workday preferred) and ticketing tools.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex issues and recommend practical solutions.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks, and manage time effectively.

Additional Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to travel up to 15% for business purposes.
