Job Summary:

The Medical Affairs Professional (MAP) is a therapeutically aligned Clinical Scientist within the Medical Affairs organization. This position focuses on leveraging expertise in specific disease states, treatments, and investigational compounds to support strategic thinking and lifecycle planning. The MAP plays a key role in cross-functional collaboration with the Brand team, ensuring that external and internal business needs are met while complying with regulations and standards.


Key Responsibilities:

Scientific Expertise & Medical Affairs Delivery:

  • Contribute to medical planning: Develop or assist in the creation of affiliate/therapeutic area medical plans and strategies in collaboration with the Clinical Research Partner (CRP).
  • Data analysis & publications: Lead or support data analysis, and contribute to the development of abstracts, posters, manuscripts, and other publications.
  • Omnichannel medical education: Collaborate with other Medical Affairs roles (CRP, CRS, MSL, etc.) to deliver a seamless medical experience using omnichannel tools for medical education.
  • Insight generation: Contribute to insight collection in areas such as the patient journey, treatment patterns, and unmet needs in collaboration with the field medical teams (MSLs).
  • Medical information support: Create local medical information letters and review regional/global letters in collaboration with the Medical Information team.
  • Scientific data disclosure: Support Scientific Data Disclosure (SDD) planning and ensure all regulatory and scientific data is shared accurately.

Cross-functional Team Collaboration:

  • Cross-functional leadership: Serve as the key medical point of contact for internal teams, providing scientific, clinical, and strategic input to support the Brand team.
  • Medical strategy development: Contribute to the development of brand medical strategies and the creation of local and global materials for promotional materials.
  • Customer experience: Oversee the medical component of local Patient Support Programs and support sales and marketing training needs.
  • Symposia and advisory boards: Lead and support the planning and implementation of scientific symposia, advisory boards, and educational events with Healthcare Professionals (HCPs).
  • Thought leader engagement: Develop and maintain relationships with key thought leaders (TLs) and recommend external experts for collaboration.

Customer Engagement & Experience:

  • Customer inquiries: Respond to external customer questions and needs, including escalations by Med Info and Sales.
  • Thought leader engagement: Coordinate local activities and engage with thought leaders, organizing speaker training and maintaining relationships with professional societies.
  • Scientific education delivery: Deliver scientific and educational meetings both virtually and face-to-face, driving improvements in customer engagement through digital innovations.

Collaboration with Regulatory:

  • Local labeling: Collaborate with CRP, regulatory teams, and legal to develop and review local labeling and ensure compliance with global regulations.
  • Regulatory support: Provide medical expertise for regulatory submissions, health authority meetings, and risk management planning.
  • Regulatory compliance: Ensure all medical activities align with regulatory requirements and support regulatory submissions under guidance from the CRP.

Professional Development:

  • Continuous learning: Stay up to date on training and professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and performance.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree in medicine or allied health field (e.g., MBBS, PhD in a medically related field).
  • 2 or more years of experience in a medical/scientific role within a relevant therapeutic area.
  • Knowledge of customer interface, anticipating customer needs, and addressing non-standard requests.
  • Experience partnering across multiple functions (e.g., Marketing, GPS, regulatory, legal).
  • Strong communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.

Desired Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of relevant clinical practice experience.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Strong command of scientific data and ability to translate it into meaningful communications for customers.

Skills:

  • Leadership & influence: Ability to lead and influence both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Complex problem-solving: Ability to resolve complex issues independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Learning agility: Strong ability to comprehend and communicate complex scientific content.
  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.

Other Requirements:

  • Travel: May require domestic and international travel, including field days and evening/weekend work.
