Job Title: Senior Group Underwriter

Job Overview:

Ameritas is seeking a Senior Group Underwriter to manage and underwrite insurance cases primarily within the 500-2,500 enrolled segment. The successful candidate will leverage their expertise in company products and underwriting principles to independently evaluate and influence underwriting decisions. This position is vital in achieving operational targets and financial goals, with a primary focus on revenue, persistency, and profitability for the assigned Midwest territory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Risk Analysis: Evaluate insurance cases by analyzing plan design, demographics, financial or medical factors, and compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Underwriting & Decision Making: Select and maintain cases to meet revenue, persistency, and profitability goals.
  • Financial Communication: Communicate underwriting decisions and financial factors to field partners.
  • Plan Design: Coordinate issuance of insurance plans, policies, and premium rates within company guidelines.
  • Problem Solving: Identify underwriting issues and provide solutions or alternatives.
  • Product Knowledge: Maintain an in-depth understanding of various insurance products, their features, and industry regulations.
  • Training & Guidance: Mentor and train new or entry-level associates to improve team performance.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of related experience required; dental/vision underwriting experience preferred.
  • Additional Skills: Experience with dental network analysis preferred.
  • Core Competencies: Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
