The Position

The Senior, Clinical Informatics leads the clinical informatics team within the Clinical Data Science & Evidence (CDSE) department, developing tools to support the CMR organization. Acting as a subject matter expert (SME), this individual drives the adoption and optimization of informatics solutions in collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders.

With strategic oversight of the clinical informatics function, this role influences the broader Novo Nordisk (NN) organization and the industry by sharing best practices and fostering innovation. The Senior will represent Novo Nordisk at external forums, contributing to thought leadership in clinical informatics.


Key Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Manage and mentor the clinical informatics team, fostering skill development and career growth.
  • Serve as a strategic leader within CDSE and an advisor to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Represent NN at industry conferences, professional societies, and advisory boards, driving adoption of clinical informatics tools.

Strategy & Development

  • Oversee and implement the CMR Clinical Informatics Strategy, ensuring alignment with global and local enterprise strategies.
  • Provide strategic guidance on clinical informatics tools, ensuring compliance with processes and integration with portfolio strategies.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to identify evolving needs and deliver innovative informatics solutions.

Operations & Compliance

  • Ensure compliant processes for the development and use of clinical informatics tools.
  • Drive the understanding and appropriate application of informatics across the organization.

Internal & External Collaboration

  • Develop relationships with US and global Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and thought leaders in clinical informatics.
  • Collaborate with NN research partnerships and external stakeholders to align informatics tools with organizational goals.

Development of People

  • Ensure all team members have Individual Development Plans (IDPs) with annual goals and measurement criteria.
  • Conduct interim reviews to align work priorities and foster accountability.
  • Promote professional growth through training and leadership opportunities.

Qualifications

Education

  • MD and PhD or Master’s degree in an informatics-related field required.
  • Board certification in medical informatics preferred.

Experience

  • 15+ years of industry, research, or analytics experience, with 10+ years in informatics (pharma experience preferred).
  • 3+ years of personnel management and team leadership in an informatics role.

Skills & Expertise

  • Solid understanding of the US healthcare system and regulatory landscape.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement strategic plans in healthcare/pharmaceutical/technology environments.
  • Strong interpersonal, relationship-building, and communication skills.

Attributes

  • Demonstrated thought leadership in clinical informatics within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.
  • Ability to foster collaboration across cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.

Physical Requirements

  • 10–20% overnight travel required.
