Overview:

Join the University of Utah’s College of Nursing as a Senior Clinical Research Coordinator in a funded NIH/NINR implementation research project focused on improving maternal mental health. The project, titled "Prevention of Perinatal Depression among At-Risk Individuals through Integration of a Multimedia, Web-based Intervention within the Healthcare System," is a 3-year research study designed to evaluate the feasibility and acceptability of a remote-access perinatal depression prevention program for underserved populations, with a focus on Latino, rural, and urban communities.

We are seeking a bilingual Spanish-English professional to play a key role in study coordination, outreach, and managing the administrative and regulatory functions of the research project. The position includes the opportunity for flexible work schedules and remote work options, with frequent travel to University of Utah Health clinics for outreach and promotion of the study.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Bilingual Outreach & Community Engagement:
    Develop and maintain a list of community partners in the Hispanic/Latino communities of Salt Lake City County. Promote the study to clinicians and staff at University of Utah Health clinics, ensuring broad outreach and community engagement.

  • Study Coordination & Administration:
    Oversee day-to-day administrative functions of the research project, including compliance with protocols, financial management, budget monitoring, and submitting study-related documentation to regulatory agencies. Prepare regular reports for stakeholders.

  • Enrollment & Participant Management:
    Manage participant recruitment, informed consent processes, scheduling, and ensure adherence to study protocols. Act as the liaison between participants and study teams.

  • Regulatory Compliance & Documentation:
    Submit and maintain IRB, NIH, and other regulatory documents. Ensure the project’s adherence to Good Clinical Practices (GCPs) and HIPAA guidelines.

  • Team Management & Mentorship:
    Supervise, mentor, and train junior research staff. Coordinate activities between stakeholders and research teams to ensure efficient study progress.

  • Adverse Event Tracking & Reporting:
    Identify, track, and report adverse events and protocol deviations. Prepare for audits or site visits by sponsors and federal agencies.

  • Data Management & Dissemination:
    Contribute to the development of educational materials, assist in the preparation of manuscripts for publication, and represent the research program at national and international conferences.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education:
    Bachelor's degree in a health science or related field, or equivalent (2 years of related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education).

  • Experience:
    At least 4 years of professional research experience and the ability to complete University RATS Clinical Certification within the first year of hire.

  • Skills:

    • Bilingual fluency in both written and spoken Spanish and English.
    • Strong organizational and communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
    • Knowledge of Good Clinical Practices (GCP), FDA, HIPAA, and IRB regulations.
  • Preferred:

    • Experience in clinical research and knowledge of maternal mental health.
    • A nursing degree or equivalent healthcare certification may be preferred.
    • Experience with research compliance certifications (e.g., CITI, GCP).
