Job Overview:

As a Clinical Diabetes Specialist (CDS), you will collaborate with a Territory Business Leader (TBL) to successfully launch and promote Sequel's new insulin pump and other innovative products. Your primary role will be to deliver unparalleled clinical education and product training to people with diabetes and healthcare providers, driving product adoption and encouraging consistent use. Working closely with the TBL, you will develop territory strategies to meet and exceed goals.

In the Senior CDS role, you will also take on a leadership position, mentoring junior team members, assisting with field sales training, and providing input on internal advisory boards.

Territory: Baton Rouge and Southwest Louisiana.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Territory Strategy Development: Partner with TBL to formulate effective plans and strategies to meet/exceed territory goals.
  • Clinical Selling: Execute clinical selling strategies within assigned accounts to drive adoption of Sequel products.
  • Product Training: Facilitate training for both healthcare providers and people with diabetes on how to effectively use Sequel products.
  • Healthcare Provider Adoption: Promote the clinical benefits of automated insulin delivery, conducting impactful product demos to instill confidence in Sequel products.
  • Certify Providers: Certify healthcare providers to train patients on Sequel products.
  • Virtual Training: Lead virtual product training sessions and webinars for healthcare providers and patients.
  • Feedback Communication: Relay user feedback to cross-functional teams to help improve product development and user experience.
  • Customer Relations: Maintain and manage leads and opportunities in customer relations databases.
  • Advocacy and Networking: Maintain relationships with local patient advocacy groups and professional diabetes organizations like ADA, ADCES, and Breakthrough T1D.
  • Conventions and Educational Forums: Participate in industry events to raise awareness of Sequel products.

Senior Clinical Diabetes Specialist Additional Responsibilities:

  • Field Sales and Clinical Training: Assist with field sales training and mentoring new staff.
  • Advisory Boards: Participate in cross-functional advisory boards to provide feedback and recommendations.
  • Leadership: Lead team calls, regional meetings, and mentor junior team members.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Licensing: A valid professional license in one of the following fields: RN, RD, PA, NP, or Pharmacist.
  • Certifications:
    • CDCES certification preferred for the Clinical Diabetes Specialist role.
    • CDCES certification required for the Senior CDS role.
  • Experience:
    • 2+ years of experience in diabetes education, with strong knowledge of diabetes technology.
    • For the Senior CDS role: 4+ years of experience in clinical diabetes education and diabetes device education.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
    • Strong data analysis and problem-solving abilities.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, start-up environment.
    • Demonstrated success in clinical metrics and career progression in the medical device industry.
  • Other:
    • Valid driver's license and the ability to travel extensively within the assigned territory.
    • Ability to carry and transport samples and literature.

Additional Requirements for Senior CDS Role:

  • Experience in mentoring, field sales training, and representing the organization at industry conferences (e.g., ADA, ADCES).
  • Proven ability to exceed sales targets and participate in partnership sales metrics (P-Club, COE).

Environmental/Safety/Physical Work Conditions:

  • Regular use of computer and phone systems.
  • Extended hours and occasional weekend work may be required during peak business cycles.
  • Frequent travel within the assigned territory is expected.
