Role Summary: Pfizer's Analytical Research and Development (ARD) within the Pharmaceutical Sciences Small Molecule group is seeking a Senior Associate Scientist to enhance laboratory automation and digital processes that accelerate and improve the efficiency, sustainability, and quality of R&D. The role involves developing and deploying automation, robotics, and data analysis tools to support Pfizer's strategy in bringing new medicines to patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Automation Development:

    • Partner with laboratory scientists to understand workflows and design new automated systems, robotics, and digital workstreams.
    • Program automated systems, integrate analytical instrumentation with proprietary software, and develop new automation solutions to improve efficiency.
  2. Data Integration & Visualization:

    • Provide scientists with digital tools to access data, integrating disparate systems for data extraction, collation, and visualization.
    • Enable integration of predictive modeling, AI, and ML capabilities into laboratory operations.
  3. Collaboration & Leadership:

    • Collaborate with internal and external teams, including analytical chemists, data scientists, automation experts, and programmers.
    • Influence colleagues at all levels and mentor peers to support the success of laboratory automation initiatives.
  4. Continuous Improvement:

    • Continuously seek opportunities to improve the speed and efficiency of scientific processes in Pfizer's R&D and manufacturing networks.

Skills and Experience:

  1. Programming & Automation:

    • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, C#, and SQL.
    • Experience in instrument control, laboratory automation, and data science concepts in a STEM-focused role.
  2. Data Science & Analysis:

    • Experience developing automated laboratory processes and utilizing software for data extraction and analysis.
  3. Laboratory & Pharmaceutical Knowledge:

    • Understanding of laboratory analytical instrumentation or experience in pharmaceutical sciences or related laboratory settings.
  4. Additional Experience:

    • Experience with databases for analytical services and knowledge of complex informatics systems is a plus.

Qualifications:

  • BSc in a STEM subject with at least 3 years of experience in laboratory automation or computer science, preferably within a laboratory setting.

Work Location & Travel:

  • Location: On-premise.
  • Travel: No significant travel is expected.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $64,600 to $107,600 annually, with a bonus target of 7.5%.
