What You Will Do

As a Scientist in Oncology Research, you will contribute to the discovery and validation of novel oncology targets, supporting the development of next-generation small-molecule therapeutics. As an integral member of a dynamic research team, you will collaborate across Amgen’s Discovery Research organization to advance innovation in cancer biology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently design, plan, and execute laboratory experiments to support research objectives.
  • Develop assays and perform routine screening of early-stage drug candidates.
  • Analyze experimental data, present findings in team meetings, and contribute to internal and external scientific forums.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally within Amgen’s research teams to drive scientific discovery.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree
    OR
  • Master’s degree and 2 years of relevant laboratory experience
    OR
  • Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of relevant laboratory experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree with training in cancer biology or a related field, including expertise in cancer signaling pathways and the cell cycle.
  • Proficiency in molecular and cell biology techniques such as cell culture, western blotting, immunofluorescence, qPCR, and flow cytometry.
  • Experience with high-throughput assays (e.g., CTG, AlphaLISA, MSD) is a plus.
  • Expertise in gene function techniques (e.g., RNAi, CRISPR), including lentivirus preparation.
  • Familiarity with genomic data analysis tools (e.g., DepMap, cBioPortal, OmicSoft).
  • Experience in target identification, validation, or early drug discovery.
  • A proven track record of independent critical thinking, scientific achievement, and contributions to peer-reviewed publications or drug discovery programs.
