About the Team:

The Antibody Team at Thermo Fisher focuses on antibody engineering and development, with an emphasis on reagent quality and specificity. The team is engaged in the design, development, purification, conjugation, and testing of antibodies used in various immunoassay applications. The team uses cutting-edge technologies and tools for advanced product development and research applications.

Role Overview:

We are looking for a Scientist III, Molecular Biology to join the antibody development team in Bangalore. This individual will play a key role in advancing molecular biology and sequencing technologies to support high-throughput recombinant antibody platforms. The role involves leading molecular biology and sequencing core facilities, mentoring junior scientists, and contributing to innovative antibody development techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead molecular biology and core facility teams to develop next-generation methodologies for recombinant antibody platforms, including vector improvements and cloning strategies.
  • Drive the development of new protocols and workflows for high-throughput antibody production.
  • Provide informal leadership, technical, and operational supervision to a team of scientists. Mentor junior scientists and oversee experimental execution.
  • Conceptualize and develop successful protocols, ensuring smooth transition to operational teams.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in molecular biology, sequencing, and antibody development. Provide guidance on cross-team collaborations and innovations.
  • Collaborate with various teams, including product management, program management, and business development, to meet program goals.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Education:
    • PhD with 4 to 5 years of experience, or
    • Master’s degree with 5 to 10 years of experience.
    • At least 3-4 years of industrial experience required.
  • Experience:
    • Extensive experience in antibody development and engineering, including hybridoma, display technologies, single B cell, and other platforms.
    • In-depth knowledge of molecular biology, vector design, cloning strategies, and antibody sequencing technologies.
    • Proven troubleshooting skills and a track record of developing new protocols.
    • Experience leading molecular biology or sequencing core facilities is a plus.
    • Previous leadership or mentoring experience (with or without direct reports) is preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Strong proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and statistical software (e.g., Prism).
    • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
    • Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of working in a fast-paced research environment.
