Job Title: Medical Advisor (Back-up or Regional)

Job Overview:

This position primarily acts as a back-up Medical Advisor, but may also serve as a Regional Medical Advisor for assigned projects. The role provides medical support to investigative sites and project staff, addressing protocol-related issues such as clarifications, inclusion/exclusion criteria, and patient safety/eligibility concerns.

Essential Functions:

  • Medical Support:

    • Provide medical assistance to investigative sites and project teams for protocol-related issues, including clarifications, inclusion/exclusion determinations, and patient safety/eligibility issues.

  • Protocol and Documentation Review:

    • Contribute to the medical review of protocols, Investigational Drug Brochures (IDB), and Case Report Forms (CRFs).

    • Provide therapeutic area/indication training to the project clinical team.

  • Adverse Event (AE) Review:

    • Review and clarify trial-related Adverse Events (AEs) and Serious Adverse Events (SAEs), collaborating with the Pharmacovigilance department.

    • Provide medical support for the Analysis of Similar Events (AOSE) in collaboration with Pharmacovigilance.

    • Review adverse event coding and contribute to the preparation of Clinical Study Reports (CSRs) and patient narratives.

  • Meetings and Presentations:

    • Attend and may present at Investigator Meetings.

    • Participate in Kick-Off meetings, weekly team meetings, and client meetings as needed.

  • On-Call Availability:

    • Be available 24/7 to respond to urgent protocol-related issues at investigative sites.

Qualifications:

  • Education and Experience:

    • Medical degree from an accredited, internationally recognized medical school, with a curriculum relevant to general medical education.

    • Specialty Board certification in the relevant specialty area (preferred).

    • Typically requires 3-5 years of prior experience in general clinical medicine, including experience in the relevant medical specialty area, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Knowledge and Skills:

    • Current knowledge of medical, scientific, and clinical aspects in the applicable therapeutic area.

    • Good communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with proficiency in English (both written and spoken).

    • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers, and clients.

    • Attention to detail, flexibility, and the ability to provide advice on multiple assignments.

  • Specialization:

    • Infectious Diseases specialty area preferred.

  • Licensing:

    • Current and valid country/state medical license or equivalent from the region where the candidate resides and works.
