Director, Investigator Payment Office (IPO) at Parexel

Job Purpose:
The Director, Investigator Payment Office (IPO) is responsible for managing the performance and delivery of the IPO function, ensuring timely and accurate setup of funds and payments across Investigator sites. This role includes leading the development, documentation, and improvement of reporting processes and procedures within Parexel to meet IPO requirements. You will work closely with operational and cross-functional teams to educate and implement changes in business processes to enhance the quality of data.


Key Responsibilities

  1. End-to-End Management of Investigator Payments:

    • Oversee the full cycle of investigator payment management, ensuring timely and accurate execution of payment processes.

  2. Team Leadership:

    • Lead and manage the IPO team, ensuring they meet or exceed client (internal and external) requirements and performance targets.

    • Handle escalation issues and inform senior management as needed.

    • Proactively manage risks and lead efforts to resolve them.

    • Develop and mentor staff, improving efficiency, productivity, and quality while supporting their professional development.

  3. Client Relationship Management:

    • Manage relationships with clients for assigned portfolios, ensuring alignment with IPO standards and reporting requirements.

  4. Process Improvement:

    • Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for IPO, overseeing functional systems and processes.

    • Partner with key stakeholders to implement and improve business processes to meet evolving internal and external needs.

    • Lead process improvement efforts, driving cross-functional engagement to enhance IPO delivery.

  5. Performance Management and Reporting:

    • Create and manage performance metrics, ensuring the team’s performance aligns with targets.

    • Use reporting tools to develop reports that support the business and identify areas for improvement.

  6. Vendor Management:

    • Oversee and manage relationships with external vendors to ensure seamless operations.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Industry Experience:

    • At least 15 years of experience within a Clinical Research Organization (CRO), Finance/Accounting function, or a comparable field.

    • 5+ years of experience managing staff and delivering high-performance results.

    • Deep understanding of clinical trials and clinical research processes.

  • System and Process Expertise:

    • Experience with multiple systems used for making payments or financial analysis.

    • Skilled in analyzing business processes and creating realistic solutions for improvement.

    • Expertise in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and reporting tools.

  • Educational Requirements:

    • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

    • A Master’s degree or equivalent is highly desirable.

  • Language Proficiency:

    • Advanced to excellent proficiency in English for non-native speakers.
