Job Title: Research Associate - Synthesis
Location: Hyderabad, India
Department: Chemistry Solutions

Scope:
This role is responsible for executing chemical reactions to synthesize the required quantities of molecules/compounds as per client specifications, using efficient synthetic routes and techniques.

Responsibilities:

  • Synthesis & Reactions:

    • Set up and execute reactions to synthesize target molecules/compounds.
    • Understand project requirements and synthetic routes specified by the client.
    • Discuss the Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) with team members and identify safety risks with the supervisor.
    • Plan and execute reactions using proper reagents and equipment (e.g., glassware, stirrers, vacuum pumps), maintaining specified conditions (temperature, pressure).
    • Ensure parallel execution of multiple reactions and monitor progress using analytical techniques.
    • Use appropriate workup and purification techniques to produce intermediary/final compounds of desired quality.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting:

    • Analyze and interpret analytical data from the synthesis process and generate reports.
    • Meet productivity benchmarks on reaction count, quality, compound purity, and project timelines.
    • Prepare final reports as required.
  • Safety & Compliance:

    • Follow safety protocols and quality systems in the lab.
    • Maintain equipment as per SOPs and ensure general housekeeping standards.
  • IP & Data Integrity:

    • Document reactions, research findings, and observations in lab notebooks accurately to ensure data integrity.
    • Maintain strict IP confidentiality and adhere to all relevant policies.
  • Team Development & Skill Enhancement:

    • Improve knowledge of organic chemistry (synthesis) and analytical techniques through discussions with supervisors, regular training, and further education programs.

Functional/Technical Skills:

  • Knowledge of organic chemistry and synthesis techniques.
  • Understanding of safety protocols, IP confidentiality, and data integrity.
  • Ability to conduct cost-benefit analysis and optimize resource usage.

Required Educational Qualifications & Experience:

  • MSc (Organic/Medicinal Chemistry) with 1-5 years of relevant experience.

Additional Requirements:

  • Candidates with research publications in leading journals are preferred.
