    Job Title: Remote Acute IP HIMS Coder

    Location: Remote (Open to candidates in FL, AZ, NC, TX, and IN)
    Duration: 13 weeks (with potential for renewal)
    Pay: $40 - $50/hr
    Work Hours: Full-time, 100% Remote

    Job Summary:

    CornerStone Professional Placement is seeking an experienced Acute IP HIMS Coder for a healthcare client. In this role, you will abstract clinical data from medical records, assign and sequence ICD-10-CM/PCS diagnosis and procedure codes, and review health record documentation to identify relevant diagnoses and procedures for inpatient billing. Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 2 years of inpatient coding experience in an acute hospital setting, with training in ICD-10 and CPT coding.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Abstract clinical information from inpatient medical records and assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes.
    • Review and interpret health record documentation to assign appropriate primary and secondary diagnoses.
    • Ensure accurate DRG and POA (Present on Admission) assignments.
    • Maintain compliance with inpatient coding guidelines and coding standards.
    • Work independently to meet deadlines and complete routine coding tasks.
    • Ensure coding is accurate for proper billing of inpatient records.

    Qualifications & Skills:

    • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
    • Experience: At least 2 years of inpatient coding experience in an acute hospital setting.
    • Coding Certifications: Completion or formal training in ICD-10 and CPT coding. Health-related certifications preferred (e.g., CCS, CCS-P, CCA, CPC, CPC-H/COC, CIC, CPC-P).
    • Technical Requirements: Must have a personal laptop to work from home.
    • Skills: Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS coding guidelines, DRG assignment, and POA. Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
    • Work Style: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

    Compensation & Details:

    • Duration: 13-week assignment with potential for extension.
    • Pay: $40 - $50/hr, depending on experience.
    • Location: 100% remote, open to applicants from FL, AZ, NC, TX, and IN.
