Job Description

The TSCA/Environmental Specialist ensures compliance and coordinates efforts related to TSCA (PMN, LVE preparation/NOC submittals) and DSL compliance. This role supports the Corporate Environmental Health & Safety team and other Sika locations with environmental and safety concerns.


Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary coordinator for TSCA/DSL compliance in North America.
  • Prepare all PMN, LVE, and NOC submissions.
  • Act as the internal contact for customer inquiries regarding product regulatory compliance matters (e.g., TSCA Verifications, RoHS Letters).
  • Obtain and maintain compliance information for TSCA, DSL, RoHS, Conflict Minerals, and other compliance needs.
  • Review pending legislation and prepare impact analysis for Sika Corporation.
  • Maintain product file history to ensure products meet all pertinent regulations.
  • Ensure all substances in products and raw materials are listed on TSCA (US) and DSL (Canada) and other relevant national chemical inventories.
  • Ensure imports from raw material suppliers and products from other Sika worldwide locations are TSCA and DSL-compliant.
  • Develop strong working relationships with global team members, particularly the product stewardship team in Europe.
  • Classify products under DOT, IMDG, & IATA and coordinate required training for associates.
  • Assist customers and the Emergency Response team by providing technical literature and regulatory information during emergencies.
  • Respond to customer inquiries in all regulatory areas.
  • Coordinate targeted regulatory and product stewardship audits of existing systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Chemistry, Toxicology, or a related discipline.
  • Three or more years of product safety experience in a chemical or closely related field.
  • Working knowledge of SAP.
  • Ability to understand and navigate governmental databases.
  • Critical thinking, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong project management skills and thorough knowledge of environmental and TSCA/DSL regulations and standards.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Some international travel may be required for training purposes.
