Job Description: Part-Time Regional Medical Director

Background

Movn Health is seeking a part-time Regional Medical Director to oversee our Movn Virtual Cardiac Rehab Program, dedicating 10-20 hours per month. This role involves providing medical oversight for the program across California and acting as the primary clinical liaison between Movn Health and the state’s medical community. We are looking for a highly skilled clinical cardiologist or internist with excellent communication abilities and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the physician champion and liaison for our remote cardiovascular risk prevention program in the region.
  • Review and approve Individual Treatment Plans (ITPs) for patients participating in the cardiovascular risk prevention program.
  • Collaborate with the clinical team to ensure patients are receiving appropriate treatment and are triaged as needed.
  • Communicate with referring physicians about individual patient outcomes and progress towards goals.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Engage with health system leaders, health plans, the Department of Health, physician practices, and Cath labs to advocate for alternate delivery models for cardiac rehab and educate them on the benefits of the Movn program.
  • Work closely with cardiology practices, Cath labs, and health systems to streamline cardiac rehab referral processes and enroll patients in the Movn program.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on the Movn program, discussing clinical evidence, workflows, patient selection, and implementation best practices with local providers and health plans.
  • Collaborate with local hospital-based medical directors of cardiac rehab to ensure appropriate patient referral and enrollment, set program goals, and implement quality improvement initiatives.
  • Assist the Movn team in problem-solving and communication with referring healthcare practitioners and other stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Compassionate and empathetic individual.
  • Cardiologist or Internist with at least 5 years of experience, specializing in cardiovascular disease prevention, exercise training, and comprehensive risk factor modification (including smoking cessation, nutrition, stress reduction, medications, and lipid management).
  • Additional knowledge in:
    • Behavioral and psychosocial aspects of cardiovascular disease.
    • Clinical epidemiology and population health management.
    • Exercise physiology and training.
    • Cardiovascular pharmacology, including advanced lipidology.
    • Basic biostatistics and data interpretation from clinical trials and outcomes research.
  • Experience in quality improvement initiatives related to ischemic heart disease outcomes.
  • Proficient in using information technology systems, including electronic medical records and telehealth platforms, and able to collaborate via digital platforms (Skype, Zoom, Email, etc.).
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, both written and verbal.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Medical degree (M.D. or D.O.).
  • Board certification in Cardiovascular Disease or Internal Medicine.
  • Licensure in good standing to practice medicine in California.
  • Training in basic life support or advanced cardiac life support.
  • Necessary insurance coverage, including medical malpractice and liability.
  • Credentialing as a provider under the Movn Health Medical Group.
  • Hospital admitting privileges in your region.
  • Possession of a private medical office address in your region.
