Overview

Join our team as a QA Test Engineer to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Corporate Portfolio across the U.S. This role is pivotal in ensuring the quality, functionality, and reliability of software products, driving independent testing efforts, and collaborating with stakeholders to deliver solutions that meet both organizational and user expectations.


Responsibilities

  • Testing Strategy & Execution:

    • Develop and implement testing strategies, encompassing manual, performance, and UAT methodologies.
    • Design and execute test plans, test cases, and procedures to meet organizational and user requirements.
    • Define testing approaches and schedules.
  • Verification & Validation:

    • Prepare test data and ensure thorough coverage of test scenarios.
    • Conduct walkthroughs of test cases/scripts with Project Managers and Development Leads.
    • Verify system functionality and document defects for resolution.
    • Perform detailed analysis of test results, ensuring system integrity.
  • Process Innovation:

    • Propose improvements to testing processes and workflows.
    • Develop potential models and configurations for future software/system enhancements.
  • Compliance & Documentation:

    • Adhere to established client testing guidelines and policies.
    • Document and communicate test outcomes effectively.

Required Skills

  • Testing Expertise:

    • Strong understanding of software testing principles and UAT planning/execution.
    • Proficiency with defect tracking tools, particularly Jira.
    • Experience writing/executing test cases and scripts for .NET and C# applications.
  • Tool Proficiency:

    • Skilled in testing tools and scripting languages such as Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, Python, MicroFocus, Eggplant, SmartBear, and TestComplete.
    • Expertise in 508 Compliance testing tools:
      • JAWS (Job Access With Speech)
      • ANDI (Accessible Name & Description Inspector)
      • NVDA (NonVisual Desktop Access)
      • VoiceOver (Mac and iOS)
      • WAVE (Web Accessibility Evaluation Extension)
  • Process & Methodology:

    • Deep understanding of SDLC, Agile practices, and CI/CD workflows.
    • Ability to interpret functional and technical requirements effectively.
  • UAT & Automation:

    • Hands-on experience preparing and conducting UAT.
    • Knowledge of automated testing tools like Jira Xray, MicroFocus, Eggplant, SmartBear, and TestComplete.

Required Education, Experience, and Clearance

  • Education & Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
    • Minimum of 3 years of relevant QA/testing experience.
  • Clearance:

    • Ability to obtain a VA Position of Public Trust – Medium Background Investigation (MBI).
