Role Purpose:

The Scientific Publications Writer plays a critical role in providing accurate and balanced scientific data across various stakeholders, including regulators, healthcare professionals, payers, and patients. The role requires collaborating with cross-functional teams to prepare scientific publications (clinical and/or health outcomes), including abstracts, posters, manuscripts, and presentations, contributing to the advancement of the drug development lifecycle.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Content Strategy and Document Preparation:

    • Collect, evaluate, and organize data from multiple sources to create a cohesive content strategy.
    • Plan, write, edit, and finalize scientific publications, ensuring high-quality, clear, and concise data presentation.
    • Lead the document initiation process and ensure author alignment through effective kick-off meetings.
    • Coordinate reviews, incorporate feedback, and ensure final documents are accurate, balanced, and scientifically sound.
    • Advocate for proper authorship criteria and work with internal/external speakers to develop presentations.
    • Ensure timely completion of documents with quality checks for accuracy.
  2. Project and Stakeholder Management:

    • Lead and manage the writing process, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality publications.
    • Build and communicate clear timelines, anticipate risks, and escalate issues when necessary.
    • Work with teams to ensure smooth document development and effectively communicate project status to stakeholders.
  3. Knowledge and Skills Development:

    • Enhance knowledge of therapeutic areas, disease states, and compounds for assigned projects.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of publication guidelines and best practices.
    • Participate in publication planning and provide input to current awareness literature reviews.
  4. Knowledge Sharing:

    • Coach and mentor others, sharing expertise in document development and best practices.
    • Contribute to process improvements and suggest opportunities for enhancing work efficiency.
    • Provide expertise in document management systems and databases.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in a scientific field.
  • Experience writing scientific publications.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Successful completion of a writing exercise (required as part of the hiring process).

Additional Preferences:

  • Advanced degree (PhD, MD, PharmD, MA, MBBS) in a related field (e.g., health economics, epidemiology, pharmacoeconomics).
  • Expertise in health outcomes, health communications, clinical development, or regulatory activities.
  • Experience in clinical pharmacology or specific therapeutic areas like oncology, neuroscience, immunology, or endocrinology.
  • Proficiency in project management, time management, and end-user computer skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in reviewing and publishing scientific materials.
