Job Purpose:

The primary purpose of this role is to drive Process Safety Management (PSM) across Syngene, ensuring compliance with EHSS (Environmental, Health, Safety, and Sustainability) policies, guidelines, and statutory requirements at state and national levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Process Safety Management Element Task teams and workstreams, ensuring the seamless execution of Process Risk Assessments (PRA), Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), and other safety assessments.
  • Track and follow up on action items from PSI, PRA, PSSR & MOC across the organization, ensuring timely closure.
  • Update Process Safety Management documentation as necessary.
  • Prepare monthly EHSS dashboards and PSM KPIs for monitoring performance.
  • Oversee internal EHSS audits, special audits, and toll audits, ensuring proper documentation and follow-up of audit observations.
  • Manage investigation and closure of EHSS incidents, ensuring all corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) are implemented.
  • Monitor the implementation of actions and solutions from Safety Board, OSLT, MREM, and PSM workstream meetings.
  • Support Syngene's Kavach initiative for safety and implement systems that ensure continuous improvement of safety protocols.
  • Organize campaigns, contests, and activities to engage employees in maintaining safe work conditions.
  • Coordinate external safety training programs and support continuous learning in process safety and EHSS standards.
  • Support the implementation and management of the Work Permit System & Contractor Safety Management protocols.

Technical/Functional Skills:

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and MS Projects.
  • Knowledge of risk assessment tools (PHAST, ALOHA, CRW, PHA, Dow Index, Chemeo, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) practices.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with a strong customer service orientation.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • 5 - 7 years of relevant experience in EHSS, especially within API and hazardous chemical process industries.
  • Graduate Engineer in Chemical Engineering.

Behavioral Skills:

  • Ability to manage cross-functional projects and multiple stakeholders independently.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and experience managing client relationships.
  • Strong leadership abilities and effective communication skills.
