Job Description:

Syneos Health is seeking a Principal Clinical Coder to join our home-based team in India. As a leader in medical coding for clinical trials, you will be responsible for overseeing coding conventions, specifications, and decision-making processes. You will provide analytical insights into coding quality control (QC) trends, lead resource management efforts, and support tool development. In this role, you will also collaborate with internal teams and sponsors, serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for coding processes, and represent the coding team in national and international meetings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead coding efforts in multicenter large studies, ensuring adherence to coding conventions and specifications.
  • Oversee coding QC processes, identifying trends and consistency issues.
  • Manage coding resources, pricing, bidding, and tool development.
  • Act as an SME for coding processes, supporting coding tool setup, implementation, and dictionary up-versioning.
  • Collaborate with data management, programming, and safety teams to ensure efficient coding processes.
  • Assist in overall coding metrics, KPI management, and safety coding processes.
  • Attend national and international meetings to represent coding and data management.
  • Ensure compliance with coding specifications, auto coding algorithms, and dictionary schemas.

Qualifications:

  • BS/BA Degree in Biological Sciences, Healthcare, or Clinical Research preferred.
  • 10+ years of strong medical coding experience, including MedDRA (LSMV) and non-safety coding.
  • MedDRA certification and strong WHODrug experience are required.
  • Experience with Safety Coding TMS (Thesaurus Management System) and dictionary cleanup/repository maintenance.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in dynamic environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), email, and voicemail.
  • Ability to travel as necessary (up to 25%).
