Position: Pharmacy Analyst, 340B

The Pharmacy Analyst, 340B will be responsible for ensuring compliance with HMH's 340B Discount Drug Program. This role involves conducting daily and scheduled audits, reviewing medication orders for replenishment, and performing in-depth data analysis to ensure regulatory compliance and maximize program value. Audits will cover HMH's 340B mixed-use setting, retail, and contract pharmacy arrangements. The person in this role will work closely with the 340B Program Manager and other Pharmacy staff to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for growth in HMH's network-wide 340B pharmacy program.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Pharmacy Analyst, 340B at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Sharing expertise and assisting with training, education, and communication with staff and program participants regarding updates to 340B policies and procedures.
  • Auditing all points of service where 340B participation occurs to ensure compliance with 340B program requisites, including entity and patient qualifications, and ensuring consistent processes are followed across all.
  • Auditing purchasing records to ensure compliance.
  • Auditing utilization and 340B purchasing records to ensure software and/or tools are functioning properly.
  • Assisting with the implementation of action plans to correct 340B compliance deficiencies, if indicated.
  • Participating in developing quarterly and annual 340B participation reports documenting utilization, savings, and exceptions or discrepancies.
  • Auditing 340B formulary pricing, potential alternatives, and possible additional savings as a result of formulary and 340B prime vendor program on a routine basis.
  • Helping to identify companies that offer 340B or equivalent pricing and developing strategies to maximize participation.
  • Collaborating with the Information Technology Team on charge description master (CDM) changes for new products, product changes, etc., ensuring the efficiency and accuracy of the charge process.
  • Performing audits or compliance assessments of specific areas and products to ensure the accuracy of CDM.
  • Utilizing and maintaining a working knowledge of computerized systems, split-billing software programs, and specialized equipment and technologies used in operations related to the 340B program in collaboration with the Pharmacy 340B program Manager and Information Services.
  • Maintaining open lines of communication with all staff and management involved with the 340B program. Providing timely and accurate communication, both written and verbal as appropriate, regarding changes and continuous quality improvement activities, including goals and objectives of the 340B program. Reporting any deficiencies identified during auditing and review for appropriate resolution.
  • Performing other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adhering to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • High school diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
  • A minimum of 3 or more years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician, Buyer, Analyst, or Auditor.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.

Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Preferred:

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements of the 340B program, CMS/Medicaid, and reimbursement is a plus.

Licenses and Certifications Preferred:

  • 340B Apexus Certified Expert (ACE)
