Compensation: $56 to $67.25 per hour (Estimated pay)
Expected Starting Salary Range: $52.66 - $67.30 per hour


Description:
Join the Critical Care and OR Pharmacy Team at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital as a part-time Pharmacist. You will be responsible for all aspects of the medication use process, including procurement, prescribing, compounding, dispensing, and administering medications. This role involves collaborating with physicians and other healthcare providers to determine the best treatments for patients, ensuring the safe storage of medications, and staying current on industry research and regulations.

As a Pharmacist, your responsibilities will include evaluating medication orders, preparing intravenous (IV) and chemotherapy treatments, serving as a resource for clinicians, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. You will also participate in educational efforts for healthcare teams, students, and residents.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Medication Orders: Evaluate medication orders based on patient history and ensure they are recorded properly. Clarify and resolve medication-related issues by collaborating with physicians or nurses.
  • Intravenous Preparations: Prepare and verify IV preparations (TPN, central lines, antibiotics, chemotherapy) in accordance with departmental guidelines. Train staff in IV and unit dose areas.
  • Chemotherapy Orders: Process chemotherapy orders, verify dosages and calculations, and follow safety protocols during preparation.
  • Serve as a Resource: Utilize references to provide accurate medication-related answers, assist in decision-making, and act as a resource for both patients and healthcare teams.
  • Documentation and Education: Ensure accurate medication histories and educate patients, healthcare teams, and students about medication safety and treatment protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Required:
    • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD Degree
    • Pharmacist License in the state of Ohio or license within 3 months of hire
