Key Responsibilities

  • Medication Dispensing:

    • Accurately dispense prescription medications, verifying orders for accuracy and drug interactions.
    • Label medications clearly and provide counseling on usage, dosage, and potential side effects.
  • Patient Counseling:

    • Provide comprehensive counseling on medications, addressing patient questions and concerns.
    • Educate patients on medication purpose, side effects, and interactions.
    • Promote medication adherence and safe drug use.
  • Health and Wellness:

    • Provide over-the-counter medication advice and recommendations.
    • Administer vaccinations and other clinical services as authorized.
    • Conduct health screenings and offer preventive health counseling.
  • Inventory Management:

    • Maintain accurate inventory levels, order and receive medications, and monitor expiration dates.
    • Properly dispose of outdated medications.
  • Regulatory Compliance:

    • Adhere to all state and federal pharmacy laws and regulations.
    • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
    • Participate in continuing education to stay updated on practices and regulations.
  • Teamwork and Collaboration:

    • Collaborate with pharmacy technicians, healthcare professionals, and insurance providers.
    • Supervise and train pharmacy technicians.
    • Contribute to a positive and efficient work environment.

Qualifications

  • Education: Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited college of pharmacy.
  • Licensing: Current state pharmacy license.
  • Skills:
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
    • Proficiency in pharmacy software and technology.
