This job posting outlines the role of a Hospital SI Pharmaceutical Sciences Team Lead (PSTL) within Pfizer’s Pharmaceutical Sciences Small Molecule (PSSM) division. The position involves leading the development of differentiated medicines, particularly post-LOE (loss of exclusivity) or generic programs for the Hospital Business Unit. The candidate will oversee the creation of advanced dosage forms, devices, and combination drug/device platforms that improve patient care and caregiver workflows.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Execution and Leadership:

    • Lead cross-functional teams (Pharmaceutical Sciences Project Teams or PSPTs and Co-Development Teams) focused on complex drug development projects.
    • Ensure deliverables are on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
    • Represent Pharmaceutical Sciences in Pipeline Project Teams, ensuring alignment with product strategies and operational planning.
    • Manage and forecast team budgets, resources, and third-party manufacturing interactions.
  2. Risk Management and Problem Solving:

    • Lead the preparation and implementation of risk management plans, identifying risks and developing mitigation strategies.
    • Provide strategic decision-making support, including assessing alternatives and preparing for unexpected challenges.
  3. Collaboration and Influence:

    • Foster effective collaboration within internal teams and with external stakeholders.
    • Use negotiation, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills to ensure the team meets project goals.
    • Represent Pharmaceutical Sciences at governance meetings and educate stakeholders about risks and opportunities.
  4. Compliance and Communication:

    • Ensure compliance with Pfizer’s policies, standards, and local regulations.
    • Communicate project updates clearly and effectively to all relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • BS in biology, biochemistry, biomedical engineering, pharmacy, or related fields with an MBA (16 years of experience in drug development), or MS with 14 years of experience.
  • Experience:
    • Demonstrated success in leading scientific teams and managing multi-disciplinary projects.
    • Experience with combination products, drug development processes, and related disciplines.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
    • Strong technical knowledge, particularly in the drug development process and experience with combination products.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD in a relevant field and experience with combination products and design controls.
  • Proven leadership experience in developing others and fostering collaboration across teams.

Other Information:

  • Salary: Ranges from $149,200 to $248,600 annually, with eligibility for performance-based bonuses and long-term incentives.
  • Travel: Requires 3-5 trips per year, mostly domestic.
  • Relocation: Available based on business needs.
  • Location: Primarily on-premise.
