Job Description for Patient Billing Representative

Position: Patient Billing Representative

Compensation: $16.50 - $17.50 per hour (based on experience and qualifications)

Position Overview:
As a Patient Billing Representative, you will be responsible for handling inbound and outbound calls related to patient concerns about medical billing statements and collecting past due balances. This role requires excellent customer service skills, maintaining confidentiality, and the ability to work in a diverse call center environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle inbound and outbound calls with patients regarding billing inquiries.
  • Provide clear answers to questions related to medical bills and accounts.
  • Adhere to HIPAA and regulatory compliance requirements, ensuring patient confidentiality.
  • Offer excellent customer service and timely responses to inquiries about benefits, billing, claims, and payments.
  • Review and analyze insurance Explanation of Benefits to determine patient responsibility and adjustments.
  • Explain charges, policies, and procedures regarding patient financial services to patients.

Qualifications:

  • Required:

    • Excellent organizational, customer service, and communication skills.
    • Moderate computer proficiency, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
    • Strong problem-solving skills, good judgment, attention to detail, and follow-through.
    • Ability to multitask and work with multiple systems simultaneously.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Preferred:

    • 1 year of customer service experience.
    • 1 year of experience in medical billing or revenue cycle management.
    • 1 year of experience in an on-site call center or patient contact center.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Pay range: $16.50 - $17.50 per hour, based on experience.
