Position Available: Medicare Billing Specialist (Remote) - Lubbock, TX Area

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Insurance Billing Manager, this position is responsible for the timely and accurate billing and follow-up of unpaid Medicare inpatient and outpatient accounts. Duties include identifying and processing appropriate write-offs, accurately resolving all credit balances, and promptly responding to help letters. The role requires meeting or exceeding productivity standards as defined in departmental policies and procedures.

Required Skills:

  • Proficiency with 10-key adding machines, calculators, fax machines, photocopiers, and personal computers (PC)
  • Strong multitasking abilities, good mathematical skills, sound decision-making, and effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to quickly learn new systems and become proficient in developing reports via hospital systems and tools; proficiency in Excel and Word for appeal submissions to payers

Required Experience:

  • High School Graduate
  • At least 1 year of experience in hospital Medicare billing and follow-up; experience in CA medical billing preferred
  • Reliable internet connectivity from home with a minimum data speed of 100 Mbps down / 10 Mbps up

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of CMS billing requirements and regulations
  • Familiarity with commercial third-party billing requirements
