Position Summary:

The Pain Management & Substance Abuse Pharmacist will be responsible for ensuring the appropriateness of drug therapy and delivery for patients in pain management and Suboxone treatment programs. This role provides direct patient care under the guidance of the Director of Pharmacy and is a key figure in coordinating education and professional development related to pain management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Care: Directly provide care for pain management and Suboxone patients.
  • Expertise: Serve as the expert in pain management for the Department of Pharmacy, coordinating education and professional development initiatives.
  • Liaison Role: Act as the contact point for all pain-related inquiries and issues within the organization.
  • Supervision: Oversee pharmacy technicians during day-to-day operations.

Qualifications:

  • Education: A degree in Pharmacy (B.S. or Pharm.D.) from a school accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE).
  • Licensure: Must hold a valid Alaska Pharmacist Intern license and obtain an Alaska Pharmacist License within 180 days of employment.
  • Certifications: Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required; Board of Pharmacy Specialties certification preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with office equipment (e.g., computers, multi-line phones, fax machine) and willingness to learn or understanding of patient-oriented management software systems.
