Job Description:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Optometric Technician - Medical Assistant to join our team in Mechanicsville, VA. This role plays a critical part in maintaining an efficient patient flow by assisting the optometrist with pre-screenings and preliminary vision testing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Care:

    • Ensure high-quality patient care and maintain a professional atmosphere in the doctor’s office and pretest room.

    • Explain preliminary examination procedures to patients clearly and concisely.

    • Promote visual field testing and retinal screenings to eligible patients.

  • Testing and Pre-Screening:

    • Conduct necessary pre-screening tests on patients prior to the doctor’s examination.

    • Perform exam pre-screening and complete required paperwork accurately.

    • Review prescriptions and patient information carefully, identifying any special needs.

    • Consult with the optician, doctor, or retail management when necessary.

  • Equipment Maintenance:

    • Ensure all equipment, including the doctor’s and pre-test equipment, is properly maintained and in good working condition.

Qualifications:

  • Experience:

    • Previous retail or optical experience is preferred, but not required.

  • Skills and Abilities:

    • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.

    • Ability to learn optical knowledge and procedures quickly.

    • Ability to give clear and concise instructions to customers.

    • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.

    • Detail-oriented with strong time-management skills.

    • Professional attitude and appearance.
