Job Title: Officer - QA Operations

Primary Objective:

The Officer - QA Operations will oversee quality assurance functions at a third-party packing station, ensuring compliance with Abbott's quality standards and regulatory requirements. This role involves monitoring incoming packing materials, finished product batch releases, and implementing food safety and compliance programs.


Key Responsibilities:

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Ensure product packing aligns with Abbott Nutrition (AN), statutory, and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish and enforce incoming quality acceptance plans for raw materials.
  • Perform batch release of finished products while maintaining quality standards.
  • Implement and oversee Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Hygiene Practices (GHP), and Good Distribution Practices (GDP).
  • Ensure compliance with FSSAI, ISO 22000, and FSSC 22000 regulations at TPM (Third-Party Manufacturer) sites.

Process Monitoring & Improvement

  • Conduct routine internal audits and implement continuous improvement strategies.
  • Develop Quality Metrics and present findings during monthly/quarterly Quality Management Reviews.
  • Ensure accurate label changeovers and confirm the application of current, approved labels.
  • Monitor compliance with Abbott-defined systems, including Change Controls, Deviations, Pest Management, Internal Audits, and Temperature Monitoring.
  • Work with R&D, Manufacturing, and Materials teams to update Product and Process Specifications (PPS).
  • Perform gap analyses on corporate and site policies, SOPs, and regulatory requirements, developing action plans for risk mitigation.

Training & Collaboration

  • Foster cross-functional collaboration with internal teams (Manufacturing, R&D, Materials) and external vendors.
  • Train and educate employees on quality control protocols, regulatory updates, and safety measures.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance quality awareness and maintain a culture of continuous improvement.

Safety & Environmental Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with EHS (Environmental Health & Safety) standards.
  • Report safety incidents and near misses promptly and participate in required safety training programs.
  • Promote best practices to reduce energy consumption, water use, and waste generation.

Qualifications & Experience:

Education:

  • Postgraduate degree in Chemistry, Dairy Chemistry, or Food Science with 2-3 years of experience in the food industry.
  • OR Graduate degree in Chemistry or Food Science with 4-5 years of experience in the food industry.
  • Master’s in a relevant field is preferred.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of analytical procedures, QA checks, and food safety standards.
  • Experience with GLP, GHP, GDP, cGMP, and HACCP.
  • Proficiency in SAP Quality Module for batch release and inventory management.
  • Understanding of FSSAI and Legal Metrology Act regulations.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong decision-making skills to manage in-process quality issues.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities to provide timely feedback and corrective actions.
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional environment with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams.
