Job Opportunity: Facilities Technician at Dayton Children's Main Campus

Department: Facilities

Schedule: Full-Time

Hours: 40 hours per week


Position Summary

The Facilities Technician works under limited supervision in an empowered environment, adhering to established policies and procedures. This role involves compliance with a safety management program aimed at maintaining a hazard-free physical environment and minimizing injury risks. The technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and replacing various mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and utility systems and their components. The role also includes demolition, installation, and all aspects of carpentry work within applicable codes and laws.

The Facilities Technician must collaborate with all divisions of the hospital and be adaptable to perform additional duties as required.


Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain, repair, and replace mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and utility systems.
  • Perform demolition and installation, particularly in carpentry-related projects.
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable codes and safety standards.
  • Collaborate interdepartmentally to meet hospital needs.
  • Adapt to perform other installation, maintenance, and repair work as required.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED (required).
  • Attendance at a trade school or vocational school specializing in a relevant trade is preferred.

Certifications/Licenses

One or more of the following is required:

  • State of Ohio Registered Apprenticeship Program.
  • Fire Protection License.
  • ASSE 6010 Medical Gas Installer Certificate.
  • ASSE 6040 Medical Gas Certificate.
  • Journeyman Electrician Certification (Ohio State Apprenticeship Council).
  • State Fire Alarm Contractor License (Ohio Department of Commerce).

Skills and Attributes

  • Strong understanding of safety protocols and compliance requirements.
  • Proficient in installation, maintenance, and repair of building systems.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
  • Flexibility to adapt to varying tasks and responsibilities.
