Summary

As a Data Engineer, you will architect and build data-intensive products, platforms, pipelines, and systems, leveraging best practices in data engineering. Your role will focus on enhancing business value and enabling a data-centric culture through effective data management.

About the Role

In a data-rich environment, you will address challenges related to data quantity, complexity, and speed. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and implementing data-intensive products and systems.
  • Sharing expertise in data engineering tools and techniques.
  • Improving the health, security, integrity, and quality of our interconnected data ecosystem.

We seek a skilled data engineer to prepare data for machine learning and statistical analysis by cleaning, unifying, scaling, and integrating diverse datasets. Your work will be crucial in shaping the future of drug discovery by utilizing various omics datasets and other complex data types.

Major Accountabilities

  • Collaborate with data scientists and subject-matter experts to address data needs.
  • Validate and ensure data accuracy by cleaning, normalizing, and conforming it to existing models.
  • Identify and rectify data inconsistencies and irregularities.
  • Design data models and prepare artifacts that meet business requirements.
  • Promote transparency in data modifications and lineage to stakeholders.

Desirable Requirements

  • Proven experience as a data wrangler, data analyst, or in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in data processing using Python, R, Bash, and other scripting tools.
  • Experience with data management across various datastores, including relational and NoSQL.
  • Familiarity with building ETL processes in high-performance environments like Databricks, AWS, or Snowflake.
  • Knowledge of machine learning libraries such as scikit-learn, pandas, TensorFlow, and PyTorch.
  • Understanding of machine learning concepts (e.g., training sets, feature extraction).
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both oral and written.
  • Experience with diverse data types, including images and unstructured data.

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Informatics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Fluent in English.
