Role Overview

As a Multilingual Medical Information Specialist (MMIS), you will play a critical role in providing high-quality medical information services on behalf of ProPharma’s pharmaceutical clients. You will respond to medical and safety inquiries via telephone, email, and other channels, following established guidelines and ensuring accurate documentation. This role requires fluency in Spanish and English, with a strong ability to translate medical information between the two languages.


Key Responsibilities

Medical Information Service Delivery

  • Respond to Inquiries: Provide accurate medical and safety information in response to requests from consumers, healthcare professionals, and other external customers.
  • Document Adverse Events: Accurately identify, document, and report adverse events, pregnancy reports, special situation events, and product complaints following regulatory guidelines.
  • Translation: Translate documents from English to Spanish and vice versa, ensuring quality and clarity in both languages.
  • Client Responses: Use approved labeling, standard responses, and literature to formulate detailed, accurate replies.
  • Log Inquiries: Record all inquiries in the system comprehensively and on time.

Quality Assurance

  • Perform Quality Checks: Ensure that all inquiries, translations, and medical responses meet ProPharma’s high standards, including quality checks on adverse events and product complaints.
  • Compliance: Maintain adherence to all internal SOPs, WPs, and regulatory requirements for the handling of confidential information and medical data.

General Duties

  • After-Hours Coverage: Participate in a rotation for after-hours coverage as required.
  • Privacy Compliance: Ensure that all confidential information is handled in line with data privacy regulations.
  • Health and Safety: Follow company health and safety policies.
  • Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as delegated by management.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Nursing degree (RN/BS/BA/MS).
  • Languages: Fluent in Spanish (mother tongue) and English (proficient).
  • Translation Skills: Strong ability to translate between English and Spanish accurately.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including proofreading, professional telephone etiquette, and customer service.
  • Medical Knowledge: Familiarity with medical terminology, pathophysiology, pharmacology, and industry standards.
  • Critical Thinking: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Multitasking: Ability to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail within restrictive timeframes.
  • Self-Motivation: Proactive, with a strong initiative and drive.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and experience with document management and inquiry handling databases.
