Job Description

The Medical Surveillance Specialist 1 provides medical surveillance support by monitoring clinical laboratory data for subjects in clinical studies, composing medical narratives, and interfacing with investigator sites. This role ensures proper monitoring of laboratory results, analyzes clinical data, and works closely with the medical team to ensure high standards of medical safety are maintained.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor Laboratory Results: Daily monitoring and evaluation of laboratory results from a sponsor-designated central laboratory.

  • Data Evaluation: Analyzing laboratory data from a sponsor-designated data management system (eDC platform) at agreed frequencies.

  • Clinical Data Review: Conducting preliminary reviews of laboratory results relative to protocol-specific reference ranges and evaluating clinically significant changes in the data.

  • Collaboration: Serving as a liaison between the Medical Services Department, sponsor-designated laboratories, and the IQVIA Project Team.

  • Trend Identification: Identifying trends or shifts in laboratory results that may impact study objectives and alerting IQVIA Medical Advisors when necessary.

  • Project Support: Assisting the Lead Medical Surveillance Specialist with project setup activities and attending project team meetings as required.

  • Communication: Interacting with project teams to convey critical information and ensuring all relevant information is distributed to the appropriate stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Life Sciences or Allied Health Sciences (e.g., Pharmacy, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Nursing, Physiotherapy, or equivalent health care fields).

  • Experience: 2 to 6 years of relevant experience, with a minimum of 2.5 years in medical surveillance.

  • Skills:

    • Strong technical ability to comprehend and integrate scientific data.

    • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).

    • Proficiency in data management and word processing.

    • Strong analytical, organizational, and attention to detail skills.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers, and clients.
