Job Summary:
As a Medical Scribe working in optometry, you will assist healthcare providers in documenting patient encounters in real-time. You will work closely with optometrists and other healthcare professionals to ensure thorough and accurate documentation of patient histories, physical exams, and treatment plans. This role is crucial to improving patient care, as it helps reduce administrative burdens and allows providers to focus on their patients.

Essential Duties:

  • Perform chart preparation per clinic protocol
  • Accompany the provider during all scheduled patient visits
  • Document patient history, physical exams, procedures, and treatment plans as performed by the provider
  • Remind providers of relevant quality metrics and document them accordingly
  • Enter laboratory and radiographic study results, as ordered by the provider
  • Record medication orders as dictated by the provider
  • Document and print patient instructions
  • Review completed charts with the provider between patients or at the end of the shift
  • Update provider preferences and clinic-specific documentation as necessary

Requirements:

  • Typing speed of at least 60+ WPM
  • Available to work 30-40 hours per week (Monday - Friday, 8 am - 6 pm PST)
  • Must have a HIPAA-compliant workspace to maintain the privacy of sensitive patient information
  • Fluent in English with excellent writing and speaking skills

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree or 1-2 years of equivalent experience in a related field required
  • Pre-health career track is strongly preferred
  • GPA > 3.5 preferred
  • Knowledgeable in medical terminology and human anatomy

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive compensation starting at $18.00 per hour, based on location, experience, and time commitment
