Job Summary:
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) serves as a field-based scientist who fosters relationships with medical thought leaders and academic centers. This role provides scientific support for Jazz Pharmaceuticals through engagement with healthcare providers and KOLs in oncology. The position requires frequent travel across Pennsylvania and Ohio, and the ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical sciences and oncology.

Essential Functions:

  1. KOL Development and Field Engagement:

    • Identify and develop peer-to-peer relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and healthcare providers in oncology.

    • Execute territory plans aligned with US Medical Affairs objectives.

    • Communicate clinical and research insights from KOLs to appropriate departments.

    • Conduct medical education activities, including presentations, investigator meetings, national conferences, and regional meetings.

    • Provide scientific support for medical congress staffing, advisory boards, and sales training.

  2. Scientific Expertise:

    • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of oncology therapies, Jazz products, emerging research, and competitive landscape.

    • Establish reputation as a scientific authority and a trusted resource for healthcare providers.

    • Attend scientific congresses and contribute to the development of local and national medical strategies.

  3. Medical Affairs Planning:

    • Contribute to the development and execution of the US Medical Plan.

    • Manage budgets for medical plan execution and collaborate with cross-functional teams to support Key Account Management.

    • Support advisory boards, clinical trials, and other activities aligned with the Medical Plan.

  4. Compliance and Company Values:

    • Adhere to Jazz Pharmaceuticals' ethical standards and regulatory requirements.

    • Document and report adverse events and product complaints as per company policy.

    • Act as an ambassador for Jazz Pharmaceuticals, demonstrating integrity and professionalism.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong ability to research and critically analyze complex scientific data.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Strategic thinking and ability to work autonomously in a dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in oncology and a track record as a Medical Science Liaison.

  • Familiarity with the healthcare environment and experts in oncology.

  • Understanding of regulatory requirements for field-based personnel.

Required/Preferred Education and Licenses:

  • Advanced degree (PharmD, MD, PhD) with a minimum of 3 years in oncology or a related field.

  • License (RN, NP, CNP, PA) with a Master’s Degree (or equivalent) and a minimum of 5 years of clinical experience.

  • 2+ years of experience as a MSL or in a comparable role.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Frequent travel to meetings, academic centers, and healthcare institutions.

  • Frequent use of office equipment, including computers, phones, and printers.

  • Occasional work outside normal hours to meet business needs.

  • Public contact requiring professional business attire.

Compensation:

  • Base salary range: $154,400 - $231,600, depending on qualifications, experience, and other factors.

  • Eligibility for discretionary annual bonus, incentive compensation, and equity grants.

  • Comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and paid vacation.
