Job Title: Medical Science Liaison (MSL)

The Position:

Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) are essential for fostering peer-to-peer communications and delivering medical and scientific information to Scientific Leaders (SLs) and Key Decision Makers (KDMs). This role is pivotal in enhancing understanding and collaboration within the therapeutic landscape.

Responsibilities:

Engagement with External Leaders:

  • Facilitate non-promotional exchanges of medical and scientific information with SLs and KDMs, adhering to legal and regulatory guidelines.
  • Gain deep insights into disease areas, therapeutic needs, data gaps, and challenges in local contexts.
  • Represent Medical Affairs at non-promotional medical events (e.g., Medical Congresses, Symposia), assisting in the coordination of scientific information and summaries.
  • Respond to unsolicited inquiries regarding medical, scientific, and product information, utilizing approved scientific materials.
  • Direct SLs and KDMs to appropriate resources for research and grant inquiries.
  • Organize and participate in medical exchange activities, such as hospital lectures and advisory boards, and serve as a presenter when needed.
  • Provide medical and scientific support for Health Technology Assessments and formulary decisions in accordance with established guidelines.

Internal Support:

  • Develop and implement regional Medical Affairs plans.
  • Identify potential study investigators for sponsored studies in collaboration with clinical trials personnel.
  • Gather insights on scientific gaps and ideas to inform development programs and company strategy.
  • Support commercial colleagues with on-label or disease state scientific training.
  • Contribute scientific support to patient access programs.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with Medical Advisors and MSLs across therapeutic areas (TAs).
  • Facilitate knowledge transfer and exchange with TA colleagues.

Competencies:

  • Demonstrate up-to-date scientific knowledge and engage effectively in scientific exchanges.
  • Provide valuable information to internal stakeholders and support research initiatives.
  • Maintain strong knowledge in assigned therapeutic areas and clinical trial methodologies.
  • Communicate complex scientific concepts clearly and build trust with diverse audiences.
  • Exhibit strong collaboration skills and effectively manage multiple tasks under pressure.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • In-depth scientific knowledge of therapeutic areas.
  • Strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Strategic thinking and project management capabilities.
  • Fluent in English.
