Note: This role is remote-first but open only to candidates based on the East Coast of the US.

Responsibilities:

  • Bring broad knowledge across therapeutic areas and expand expertise into new fields.

  • Translate complex scientific information into clear, impactful communications.

  • Lead scientific strategy for client accounts, overseeing content development and providing editorial support.

  • Develop and execute strategic medical communications initiatives including:

    • Scientific communications platforms.

    • Medical communications plans.

    • KOL engagement plans.

    • Strategic slide decks, iPDFs, and meeting planning.

  • Support publications teams by:

    • Developing manuscripts, abstracts, posters, review articles, and literature gap analyses.

    • Contributing to strategic publication plans.

  • Partner with internal and client stakeholders to manage strategy and tactics.

  • Ensure quality, strategic alignment, and scientific accuracy in deliverables.

  • Communicate updates on products, medical/regulatory milestones, and industry trends.

  • Innovate with in-house technology and creative teams to build digital solutions.

  • Foster growth of junior scientific writers and manage team performance.

  • Collaborate with the Account Director to ensure operational and compliance excellence.

  • Build and maintain strong client and medical expert relationships.

  • Support business development efforts and ensure organic account growth.

Qualifications and Prerequisites:

  • Advanced doctoral-level degree in a scientific discipline.

  • Minimum 5+ years of agency experience as a Senior/Medical Director in a strategic, client-facing role.

  • Strong presentation skills and composure under pressure.

  • Strategic thinking ability to guide internal teams and clients.

  • Experience across multiple therapeutic areas preferred.

  • Integrated scientific communications (sci-comms) experience required (medical communications and publications).

  • Experience supporting product launch accounts.

  • Expertise in developing traditional and digital deliverables.

  • Experience providing congress support and facilitating advisory board meetings.

  • Strong attention to detail and editorial skills.

  • Ability to review and train junior writers.

  • Willingness to travel for client meetings and congresses (domestic and international).
