Job Description

Role Overview:

The Medical Data Specialist is responsible for managing data-related tasks, including complex abstraction, quality assurance, and participation in special projects. The role requires expertise in medical terminology, data entry systems, and adherence to security and compliance standards.


Key Responsibilities

Data Management and Curation

  • Perform complex data abstraction and interpretation as per disease and project specifications.
  • Accurately input data into designated systems, such as electronic case report forms (eCRFs) and databases.
  • Maintain a high standard of medical knowledge and remain proficient in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Self-report time utilization, completed audits, and other relevant operational metrics to the management team.

Quality Assurance

  • Adhere to project-specific quality benchmarks, maintaining a minimum accuracy rate of 95%.
  • Address and resolve errors based on Quality Analyst feedback within prescribed timelines.
  • Participate in periodic Inter-Rater Reliability (IRR) assessments to ensure consistent performance and accuracy.

Special Projects

  • Contribute to or lead client-specific initiatives and special assignments as required by the organization.

Security and Compliance

  • Safeguard credentials and ensure systems are secure when not in use.
  • Avoid using unauthorized applications or saving Protected Health Information (PHI) on restricted domains.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in Medical Sciences: BDS, MDS, BAMS, BUMS, BHMS, BPT, or MD.
  • 0–5 years of experience in clinical or non-clinical roles.
  • Familiarity with medical data entry and abstraction processes.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong grasp of medical terminology and disease classifications.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in using computer systems and electronic data capture tools.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and work under pressure.

Shift Details: General or as per project requirements.
Work Mode: Work From Office (WFO).
