The Medical Coding Associate is responsible for effective and efficient operations by improving various procedures in information flow, management, and business processes. This role requires multi-specialty coding knowledge and the ability to perform root cause analysis.

Essential Functions:

Medical Coding Responsibilities (60%)

  • Assign accurate ICD and CPT codes to diagnoses and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with government and insurance regulations.
  • Address documentation issues in cases of insufficient or unclear information.
  • Research complex or unusual coding cases.
  • Review patient charts for accuracy.
  • Ensure all codes are current and active.
  • Analyze root-cause issues and collaborate with vendors, payers, and stakeholders.
  • Identify volume fluctuations and provide insights to management.
  • Support process improvement initiatives.

Work Trends & Process Improvement (30%)

  • Propose solutions for process improvement to achieve a seamless revenue cycle.
  • Collaborate with BPO teams and internal divisions to drive results.
  • Prioritize and implement process changes based on business impact.

Special Projects (10%)

  • Work with internal stakeholders to resolve claim issues.
  • Communicate project status and resolutions effectively.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for internal teams.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • 5-7 years of experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Mandatory experience in the healthcare RCM domain.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • CPC or CCS certification or equivalent.
  • Preferred expertise in E&M OP or Surgery coding.
  • Mandatory understanding of CIC or inpatient coding.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare RCM processes.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and ability to perform root cause analysis.
