Employment Type: Full-time (40 hours/week)
Work Hours: Monday – Friday, 8-hour shifts between 5am – 5pm. Flexibility required for occasional overtime based on business needs.
Training Hours: 2-3 weeks of paid training, 7am to 3:30pm CST, Monday – Friday.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provider Inquiries: Receive assigned provider inquiries and perform a code review on both professional and facility claims.
  • Case Determinations: Make determinations on cases after a coding review is complete.
  • Edit Reviews: Review various edits on cases and complete audits of medical records to ensure proper editing is applied.
  • Medical Chart Reviews: Review medical charts electronically.
  • Coding: Abstract and code diagnosis and procedures from the medical record.
  • Benefit Coding: Review and supply procedure and diagnosis codes for benefit coding requests.
  • Documentation: Document requested information from the medical record.
  • Compliance Analysis: Perform ongoing analysis of medical record charts for appropriate coding compliance.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma / GED (or higher).
  • Certification: Active coding certification (CPC, CPC-A, COC, CCS, CCS-P, CCA, RHIA, RHIT).
  • Experience:
    • 1+ years of medical coding experience with CPT.
    • 1+ years of medical coding experience with ICD-10.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AAPC Credentials: Preferred but not required.
  • Experience:
    • 1+ years of facility-based coding experience.
    • 1+ years of managed care experience.
  • Pharmacology Knowledge: Preferred but not required.

Compensation

  • Hourly Range: $19.47 to $38.08 per hour for residents of California, Colorado, Nevada, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Washington, and Hawaii.
