Job Summary:

The Medical Coder is responsible for accurately assigning diagnostic and procedural codes using ICD-10 and CPT-4 standards. This role ensures data accuracy for hospital statistics, planning, and reimbursement while adhering to departmental coding guidelines.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Code inpatient and/or outpatient records as per schedule

  • Assign ICD-10 and/or CPT-4 codes with at least 95% accuracy

  • Identify and abstract records accurately and consistently

  • Meet departmental productivity and turnaround time standards

  • Participate in meetings and educational sessions to maintain coding accuracy

  • Demonstrate time management by meeting deadlines and minimizing disruptions

  • Remain flexible with work hours and team/shift changes

  • Collaborate with team members and hospital staff effectively

  • Join coding-related conference calls as required

  • Comply with company policies, contracts, and reassignment conditions


Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate in any discipline

  • Certified fresher or experienced in medical coding (0–1 year)

  • Must hold a current coding certification from AAPC or AHIMA

    • Accepted certifications: CPC, CCS, CIC, COC

  • Must provide valid certification proof during the interview/offer process
