Medical Billing Specialist – Behavioral Health

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Billing Specialist to join our behavioral health organization. The ideal candidate will handle medical coding, insurance claims, payment processing, and a range of billing tasks with accuracy and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage all medical billing and coding processes for patient services.
  • Submit and manage claims to insurance companies, ensuring timely and accurate billing.
  • Verify patient insurance benefits and coverage, ensuring complete and accurate billing.
  • Conduct regular follow-ups with insurance providers on outstanding claims.
  • Update patient records with accurate billing and personal details.
  • Implement and adhere to procedures for behavioral health billing processes.
  • Address and resolve patient billing complaints and inquiries.
  • Coordinate with treatment providers to ensure accurate exchange of billing information.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all federal and state health information privacy laws.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Administration, Health Management, Nursing, or a related field. Certification as a Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Medical Coder (CMC) is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a medical billing role, preferably in a behavioral health setting.
  • Proficiency in medical coding including ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS.
  • In-depth knowledge of medical billing regulations, insurance procedures, and billing software.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional multitasking and prioritization abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with health information privacy laws and a strong commitment to patient confidentiality.
  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
