Position: Medical Affairs Specialist

Responsibilities:

Business/Customer Support:

  • Understand and anticipate the scientific information needs of local and regional customers (payers, patients, healthcare providers) and address their inquiries promptly through data analyses and new clinical or health outcomes research.
  • Collaborate with global Medical Affairs and brand teams, Global Patient Outcomes/Real World Evidence, and other cross-functional teams to develop medical strategies that support brand commercialization activities.

Scientific Data Dissemination/Exchange:

  • Ensure compliance with local laws, global policies, and procedures regarding data dissemination and interactions with healthcare professionals.
  • Address unsolicited scientific information needs of healthcare professionals per established guidelines.
  • Assist medical information associates in preparing and reviewing medical letters and other materials.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external scientific experts, thought leaders, and the broader medical community at local, national, regional, and potentially international levels.

Clinical Planning & Research Support:

  • Represent the clinical needs of the region to business unit medical leadership in developing clinical strategies, plans, and study protocols.
  • Review and approve local informed consent documents and risk profiles to ensure clear communication of risks to study subjects.
  • Collaborate with clinical research teams on the design, conduct, and reporting of local trials as needed.

Regulatory Support Activities:

  • Contribute to the development and review of local labeling and modifications in coordination with global development and brand teams.
  • Provide medical expertise to regulatory scientists and participate in advisory committees.

Scientific Technical Expertise:

  • Stay informed about trends and projections in clinical practice and access related to the therapeutic area(s).
  • Critically evaluate medical literature and maintain awareness of competitive products and relevant scientific developments.
  • Act as a scientific consultant and protocol expert for clinical study teams and other medical personnel.

Qualifications:

  • Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathy, board eligible or certified in the relevant specialty/subspecialty, or equivalent post-medical school clinical training.
  • Graduation from a medical school recognized by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education.
  • Fluent in English, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Preferred knowledge of the drug development process relevant to the region.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to influence others and foster a positive working environment.
