Position Title: Medical Advisor (Back-Up/Regional)

Position Overview

The Medical Advisor will primarily act as a back-up but may also serve as a Regional Medical Advisor on assigned projects. The role involves providing medical support to investigative sites and project staff on protocol-related issues, including protocol clarifications, inclusion/exclusion determinations, and addressing patient safety and eligibility concerns.


Key Responsibilities

  • Medical Support and Advisory:

    • Act as the primary medical support for investigative sites and project teams, offering guidance on protocol clarifications, inclusion/exclusion criteria, and safety/eligibility concerns.
    • May contribute to the medical review of protocols, Investigative Drug Brochures (IDB), and Case Report Forms (CRFs).
    • Provide therapeutic area/indication-specific training to the clinical team.
  • Adverse Event and Safety Oversight:

    • Perform review and clarification of trial-related Adverse Events (AEs).
    • Participate in the medical case review of Serious Adverse Events (SAEs), collaborating with the Pharmacovigilance department.
    • Provide support for the Analysis of Similar Events (AOSE) in collaboration with the Pharmacovigilance department.
    • Review and provide input into adverse event coding.
    • Perform medical review of Clinical Study Reports (CSRs) and patient narratives.
  • Meetings and Communication:

    • Attend and may present at Investigator Meetings.
    • Participate in Kick-Off meetings, weekly team meetings, and client meetings as needed.
    • Be available 24/7 to respond to urgent protocol-related issues at the investigative sites.

Qualifications

  • Education and Experience:

    • Medical degree from an accredited and internationally recognized medical school.
    • Board certification in a relevant specialty area is preferred.
    • 3-5 years of relevant experience in clinical medicine, with expertise in the applicable therapeutic area or a combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Skills and Knowledge:

    • Current knowledge of the medical, scientific, and clinical landscape in the relevant therapeutic area.
    • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with proficiency in both written and spoken English.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers, and clients.
    • Strong attention to detail, flexibility, and the ability to manage multiple assignments.
    • Preferred expertise in the Infectious Diseases specialty area.
    • Must hold a valid medical license in the country or region of employment.
