Job Description

The Regional Medical Advisor (RMA) within Abbott's EPD Medical Organization provides scientific and medical support to the company in a non-sales capacity. This role involves significant interaction with customers in the field, ensuring the delivery of scientific and medical information while supporting clinical studies and medical projects. The RMA works closely with other medical personnel, such as Clinical Research Managers, Medical Advisors, and Medical Managers, to enhance scientific credibility and drive therapy shaping.


Key Responsibilities

  • Scientific & Medical Support: Provide scientific and technical support to key opinion leaders (KOLs) and academic centers, ensuring access to current medical information on products and therapeutic areas.
  • Therapeutic Area Expertise: Ideate and design high-quality, science-driven activities to engage physicians and KOLs, driving therapy shaping in collaboration with the Medical Affairs & Commercial teams.
  • Clinical Study Oversight: Assist in the initiation, oversight, and follow-up of assigned clinical studies and medical projects (e.g., Phase IV studies, post-marketing clinical activities, etc.).
  • Scientific Presentations: Deliver unbiased, accurate, and high-level scientific presentations to physicians and healthcare professionals, ensuring scientific integrity.
  • Relationship Building: Develop and maintain professional relationships with KOLs, physicians, and research institutions, ensuring the credibility and scientific dialogue around the company's therapeutic areas.
  • Collaboration: Participate in selecting qualified physicians for collaborative research or educational efforts (e.g., research collaborations, congresses, and symposia).
  • Compliance: Ensure that all activities comply with local, global, and national laws, guidelines, and company policies, including SOPs and ethical codes.

  • Management Skills: Ability to manage and oversee clinical and medical projects.

Key Interfaces

  • Internal EPD Medical Personnel: Collaborating with Clinical Research Managers, Clinical Operations Managers, Medical Advisors, Medical Information teams, and Pharmacovigilance teams.
  • Marketing: Working with the Marketing team in the relevant therapeutic area.
  • Sales: Supporting the sales organization in the geographic area.
  • External Stakeholders: Engaging with healthcare professionals (physicians, nurses, pharmacists), research investigators, KOLs, and institutions.
  • Scientific & Medical Societies: Collaborating with scientific or medical societies to support professional development and research.
