Manager – Quality Systems & Compliance

Location: India - Mumbai

Main Purpose of Role:

The Manager – Quality Systems & Compliance is responsible for the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of quality systems within the commercial affiliate. This includes ensuring regulatory compliance, purchasing control, internal audits, and CAPA management to meet Abbott’s quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Quality Systems Review & Implementation (30%)

  • Ensure effective implementation of applicable Quality Policies relevant to the commercial affiliate.

  • Maintain and review Site Quality Manual and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Conduct impact assessments for new or updated regulations on existing Quality Systems.

  • Ensure Product Action Readiness and maintain relevant procedures.

  • Monitor and support Affiliate Quality Management Review (QMR) process.

  • Track and ensure the validity of FSSAI licenses for applicable sites.

  • Maintain an approved distributor list.

2. Regulatory Compliance (20%)

  • Coordinate regulatory visits, audits, and follow-ups to ensure compliance.

  • Implement systems for Quality Metrics and drive continuous improvements.

  • Ensure adherence to testing requirements for imports and Ex-India markets.

  • Maintain records of Importation Testing Requirements.

  • Lead Temporary Product Reassignment activities for Affiliate Quality.

3. Purchasing Control (30%)

  • Ensure compliance with OACA-SUP and other relevant procurement procedures.

  • Conduct monthly governance meetings, track risks, and implement mitigation actions.

  • Develop supplier audit schedules, reevaluation plans, and performance monitoring.

  • Oversee supplier qualification, audits, and corrective action requests (SCARs).

  • Conduct monthly reviews of purchase orders, highlight risks, and take corrective actions.

4. Internal Audit Program & CAPA (20%)

  • Ensure compliance with internal audit and CAPA procedures.

  • Develop, review, and communicate the Internal Audit Program.

  • Oversee pre-audit requirements, audit execution, findings documentation, and reporting.

  • Upload audit findings into SBM CAPA system as applicable.

  • Monitor audit schedule adherence and facilitate CAPA governance meetings.

  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and CAPA reviews to ensure compliance with procedural requirements.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Experience:

  • Team handling experience.

  • Proven experience in Quality Systems implementation.

  • Hands-on experience in regulatory and external audits.

  • Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills.

  • Expertise in stakeholder management.

  • Sound knowledge of HACCP and Quality Systems.

  • Proficiency in Power BI and MS Excel analytics.

  • Experience in Quality Management Software and Tools.

Certifications (Preferred):

  • ISO 9001, FSSC 22000, or BRC Lead Auditor Certification.

  • Internal Audit Certification.

  • Certification in ISO, FSSC 22000, and Quality Systems.

  • Lead Auditor for FSSC 22000 (preferred).
