Job Overview:

The [Job Title] plays a critical role in enhancing safety within the organization, focusing on implementing safety improvement programs, managing workplace safety, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and best practices at the unit level.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Safety Improvement Programs:

    • Lead initiatives aimed at improving safety across the unit.
  2. Training & Development:

    • Deliver awareness and skill-based safety training sessions, including both introductory and refresher courses.
  3. Workplace Safety Management:

    • Oversee and manage all aspects of workplace safety within the unit.
  4. HAZARD Studies:

    • Conduct and track HAZARD studies for both existing and new processes, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams.
  5. Management of Change (MoC):

    • Analyze all change controls raised in the plant for safety impact, recommend safety requirements, and verify the implementation of MoC recommendations.
  6. Pre-Start-up Safety Review:

    • Perform safety reviews for newly installed systems or after significant modifications, identifying both pre and post-start-up requirements.
  7. Management Systems:

    • Implement and maintain safety management systems like ISO 45001.
  8. Work Permits:

    • Train plant and SHE personnel on the permit system, cross-check issued permits, conduct field checks, and monitor critical works. Prepare and review Job Safety Analysis for both routine and non-routine operations.
  9. Height Safety:

    • Train personnel for working at heights, ensure the use of safety harnesses, inspect scaffolds and ladders, and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  10. Excavation Safety:

    • Implement safety measures for underground installations, shoring, scaffolding, and gas monitoring during excavation.
  11. Confined Space Safety:

    • Identify confined spaces, ensure proper isolation and monitoring during vessel entry, and provide rescue devices and training.
  12. Equipment/Machine Guarding:

    • Ensure proper guarding of rotating/moving parts, prevent slips, falls, and hits, and inspect hoists, guards, and lifting tools.
  13. Electrical Safety:

    • Implement electrical equipment safety protocols, ensure zone classification, integrity of flame-proof worthiness, equipment earthing, and compliance with electrical standards.
  14. Incident Reporting and Investigation:

    • Ensure all incidents are reported, conduct investigations, perform root cause analysis, and monitor corrective and preventive actions.
  15. Incident Sharing:

    • Share incident details within the unit and across the organization.
  16. Risk Register Maintenance:

    • Maintain a risk register for the site, develop and implement a risk reduction action plan.
  17. Audit Coordination:

    • Prepare for and coordinate second-party, external, and customer audits, and monitor corrective actions.
  18. Themed Audits and Surveys:

    • Conduct periodic audits and surveys, identify gaps, and implement corrective measures.
  19. Static Controls:

    • Create awareness, train personnel, provide tools, and monitor static control usage.
  20. Toolbox Talks:

    • Organize toolbox talks, select topics, and coordinate with plant personnel and SHE for contractor safety discussions.
  21. Colleague Interaction:

    • Encourage reporting of unsafe actions and conditions, interact with shop floor personnel, and address safety concerns.
  22. Safety Data Analysis:

    • Analyze leading and lagging safety indicators and take appropriate actions.
  23. Emergency Response:

    • Plan, train personnel, and conduct mock drills for onsite emergency response.
  24. Safety Appliances Maintenance:

    • Maintain and ensure functionality of safety appliances, including fire hydrant systems, fire extinguishers, eyewash stations, fire alarms, and first aid supplies.
  25. EHS Procedures Implementation:

    • Implement site-specific EHS procedures as per the site plan.
  26. CAPEX Projects:

    • Ensure timely completion of Safety & Health CAPEX projects.
  27. EHS Digitalization:

    • Implement MYSAFE EHS digitalization initiatives.
  28. Equipment Safety Inspections:

    • Conduct equipment safety inspections and work with cross-functional teams to address identified gaps.
  29. Documentation:

    • Maintain thorough and accurate safety documentation.
  30. Contractor Safety Management:

    • Implement SEP requirements for contractor safety management.

Qualifications:

  • B.Tech in Chemical Engineering or M.Sc. with a Diploma in Safety.

Required Skills:

  • Expertise in EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) protocols.
  • Proficiency in risk management.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental compliance.
