Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced IP Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in patent search, portfolio management, drafting, patent litigation, and strategic IP planning. You will collaborate with R&D teams, external IP advisors, and legal teams to manage and protect intellectual property assets.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Patent Analysis:

    • Collaborate with the R&D team during and after product development to provide IP insights via prior art investigation.
    • Partner with internal and external IP advisors to ensure freedom to operate (FTO) for biosimilars and therapeutic peptides.
    • Assist R&D with non-infringement and invalidity analyses.
    • Recommend strategies for challenging patents.
    • Coordinate with IP attorneys, business development, and R&D teams for IP-related matters.
    • Help cross-functional teams understand third-party IP rights.
  2. Patent Prosecution:

    • Work with the R&D team on disclosing inventions.
    • Prepare provisional and complete patent applications.
    • Advise on patent and divisional strategies.
    • Monitor global patent prosecution activities.
    • Ensure timely payment of patent fees for active patent status worldwide.
  3. IP Litigation:

    • Manage patent and trademark litigation activities globally.
    • Develop and implement IP litigation strategies in collaboration with legal advisors.
    • Submit timely responses and briefs during legal proceedings.
    • Coordinate with external patent attorneys for patent filings, prosecution, and renewals.
    • Work with trademark attorneys for trademark filings, prosecution, and renewals.
  4. Competitive Intelligence:

    • Monitor the IP landscape and competitive intelligence.
    • Update and inform stakeholders on changes in the IP scenario.
    • Assist in competitor patent portfolio analysis using specialized tools and legal sources.
    • Provide literature support to R&D functions as required.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Essential Qualifications:

    • Life Science graduates, Law degree, or Specialization in Intellectual Property (IP).
  • Preferred Skills:

    • Practical knowledge of patent databases, including regional patent office platforms like Sci-Finder, Orbit, Ark.
    • Familiarity with the patent lifecycle in various markets.
    • Hands-on experience with biosimilars, biologics, and medical devices, including their life cycles.
    • Strong understanding of assessing novelty and inventive steps during invention evaluation.
    • Ability to analyze IP search results and provide actionable insights.
  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 7 years in the IP field, with specific experience in patent prosecution, litigation, and portfolio management.
    • Experience in working with cross-functional teams, including R&D, business development, and legal teams.
  • Skills:

    • Expertise in IP, patent search, portfolio management, drafting, and litigation.
    • Familiarity with patent "patent dance" processes in the industry.
