Job Overview

The Lead Data Management role involves overseeing the integrity, accuracy, and consistency of the organization’s master data across all business units. You will develop data management strategies, implement data governance practices, and lead the implementation of master data management tools. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in data management, strong analytical skills, and the capability to lead data projects in a fast-paced environment.

Reporting Structure

  • Reports to: Sr. Director, Business Transformation and Technology

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in data management, focusing on master data management.
  • Proven expertise in data governance, data quality, and data integration best practices.
  • Experience in writing policies and procedures for establishing data standards and operating models.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical or medical device industry is a plus, along with knowledge of relevant regulations and standards.
  • Familiarity with data management tools such as SAP MDM, Informatics, or similar is essential.
  • Knowledge of SAP data elements is highly preferred.
  • Experience with data platforms like Azure and AWS is desirable.

Key Responsibilities

Data Governance and Strategy:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive data management strategies aligned with company objectives.
  • Establish and enforce data governance policies and procedures to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to define critical data elements, standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Lead the Data Governance Council and drive projects to enhance data quality.

Data Quality Management:

  • Ensure business teams monitor and maintain master data quality across all systems.
  • Conduct regular data audits and clean-ups to identify and rectify discrepancies.
  • Develop data quality metrics and reporting tools to track improvements over time.

System Integration, Execution, and Management:

  • Oversee the integration of master data across various business systems.
  • Act as the Data Lead in S/4 HANA implementation, coordinating data cleansing, planning, testing, and migration.
  • Manage master data management systems, including upgrades and enhancements.
  • Serve as the principal SME for data migration and integration projects.

Project and Stakeholder Management:

  • Lead data management projects from initiation to completion, adhering to budget, timeline, and quality standards.
  • Develop project plans outlining tasks, timelines, resources, and milestones.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams for successful project execution.
  • Communicate data management strategies, policies, and procedures to stakeholders.

Risk and Issue Management:

  • Identify risks related to master data and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor data management activities and take corrective actions as necessary.
  • Document and escalate risks and issues, working with stakeholders to resolve them promptly.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement changes to enhance data management practices.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the data management team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Data Management, or a related field; Master’s degree is highly preferred.
